Hi athletes,
Congratulations on making it to the last day of the CrossFit 101 program! I’m pumped for tonight’s class. Today’s ACTION ITEM is to read CrossFit Talk, a little dictionary to get you familiar with some terms in the CrossFit community. Please also view the video to know what to expect tonight!

DO NOW: Read CrossFit Talk

AMRAP – As Many Reps As Possible
Box – slang for “gym” as many CrossFit gyms are old garages
Chipper – a long workout with many different movements
EMOM – Every Minute On the Minute
For Time – do the work as fast as you can
The Girls – a set of benchmark workouts that are known throughout the CrossFit world (i.e. “Annie”, “Cindy”, “Fran”)
Kipping – The use of a dynamic swing to help facilitate movement
ME – Max Effort
MetCon – Metabolic Conditioning
PR – Personal Record
Rep – a repetition of a movement
RFT – Rounds for Time
RM – Rep Max (the heaviest load for one particular lift)
Rx – As Prescribed (performing the workout as it was written or intended)
Scaled – modifying the workout to fit an athlete’s ability level
Set – a number of repetitions
Strict – without the use of a kip
TABATA – 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest
Unbroken – performing the work without stopping or resting
WOD – Workout of the Day
