EastieFit All-Star Spotlight: Nino’s Journey to Strength & Community
Three years ago, Claudio L. Morales Perez—better known as Nino—walked through the doors of EastieFit, looking for something new, fun, and challenging. What he found was more than just a workout; he found a community, a support system, and a new way of life.
Nino’s dedication to training and smart nutrition has paid off in a big way. Since starting his fitness journey at EastieFit, he has lost over 20 pounds and continues to push his limits in the gym. In February, he hit two major milestones: his first few successful pistol squats and a 170 lb clean & jerk!
When asked what motivates him to keep showing up, he keeps it real:
"It sucks, but it will be over soon!" 😆🔥
For Nino, EastieFit is more than a gym—it’s a second home. The friendships and support he has built here keep him coming back.
"Connected" is the EastieFit core value that resonates with me most. Whether it’s pushing each other through tough workouts or supporting each other outside the gym, the bonds formed at EastieFit are what make the experience special.
His advice for new members?
"Don’t be afraid to take a chance—you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve!"
When it comes to fitness success, Nino credits the Eat and Train core habits for making the biggest impact. Learning to fuel his body properly and train smarter has transformed his health, performance, and mindset.
His key takeaway?
"Progress is a process. It doesn’t happen immediately, so enjoy the journey, embrace the wins and losses, and learn from them."
Outside of crushing workouts at EastieFit, Nino loves playing softball, watching sports, and going out dancing. Whether it’s on the field, cheering for his favorite team, or hitting the dance floor, he brings the same energy and passion to everything he does.
With his dedication and positive mindset, there’s no doubt that Nino will continue reaching new heights in his fitness journey. Next time you see him in the gym, give him a high-five and ask him about his latest PR—he’s always pushing to improve!

Honestly, I was thinking it was going to be like the other CrossFit boxes I had been to before CJP. I thought I wasn’t going to last and that my first class was going to be a try out. I was surprised by how much commitment and effort the coaches put into each of us to make us better, a month try out turned out to be 3 years of continuous work. What started as a couple days a week turned out to be a life time commitment.
I was brought to CrossFit because of the functionality it provides for every challenge life versus just bodybuilding or power lifting. CrossFit forces you to break through mental barriers and past what you thought you physical or mental limit was.
We have something at CJP that I see and appreciate at every CrossFit gym I’ve ever vistied: a community of capable, caring judges and athletes of all shapes and sizes united under one goal of helping each other to get as fit as possible. That was my expectation when I showed up here on Day One (June 2015), and that perception hasn’t changed at all in the four years since.
